STERLING SILVER MOTHER OF PEARL BUTTER KNIFE 1904 A nice looking sterling silver and mother of pearl handled butter knife fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1904. Minor kink to blade tip but the silver is very thick gauge so not a big problem. No chips to handle, there is a minor horizontal line through the end which looks like a natural minor fault in the mother of pearl. Overall it’s a fine piece. SUPERB STERLING SILVER LOUIS XVI HANAU BOWL 1899 A very impressive piece, this is a large sterling silver sugar bowl or bonbon bowl that appears to depict the torso of Louis XVI and Mary Antoinette along with the Louis crossed-L ciphers and has rams head and wreath decoration. Made in Hanau, Germany and bearing later import hallmarks for Sheffield 1899, sponsor Samuel Boyce (or Boaz) Landeck. The original Hanau maker is unknown (crowned ‘R’ marking etc). STERLING SILVER HIPFLASK GOLDSMITHS CO LONDON 1893 A fine looking sterling silver hip flask fully hallmarked for London 1893, made by the Goldsmiths & Silversmith Co of Regent Street. Ornate conjoined monogram of ‘HAM’ (?) to front. Some tiny surface knocks, no major dents or damage, minor surface marks. FABULOUS STERLING SILVER LARGE GOBLET TROPHY CUP 1888 This really is a superb quality and condition piece. Formed as a huge chalice or goblet, chased with laurel wreaths in which one is an embossed stylised bird on perch. The trophy is engraved ‘Glasgow & West of Scotland Ornithological Association 1888 best Young Clean or Foul Hen Must be won twice’ and in a further panel the names of winners between 1888 and 1893. This beautiful piece is fully hallmarked for Glasgow 1888 and was made by Thomas Stewart. Pictured next to a standard sized wine bottle for comparative purposes only. SUPERB HEAVY LARGE GEORGE III SALT SOLOMON HOUGHAM 1808 A fine looking and exceptionally weighty sterling silver open salt fully hallmarked for London 1808, made by Solomon Hougham. The feet terminate in what appears to be a Queens head, the feet of hoofed shell form. Scalloped upper rim. Has an armorial of a lion rampant above initials ‘CGD’. No dents. There are a couple of tiny splits to the rim decoration but silver is of such thickness that it is of no real consequence. Very clean interior for age. Quite splendid. SUPERB 3 PIECE VICTORIAN SILVER PLATED TEASET A very fine quality 3 piece Victorian silver plated teaset, the teapot of 2.5 pints capacity and the milk jug and sugar bowl having gilt interiors. Each piece is engraved with a good conjoined monogram of ‘WK’. The makers mark is unknown to us – Crown over HB & HS (it isn’t Harrison Brothers & Howson). ORNATE STERLING SILVER PEPPER POTS WALKER & HALL 1908 A good looking pair of heavyweight sterling silver pepper pots by Walker & Hall, fully hallmarked for Sheffield 1908. Minor knocks to body, no major dents. The were originally raised on 4 short feet but obviously somebody decided to fold these into the base rims in order to provide better stability. It doesn’t notice when on the table. They do both have some heavier tarnish, we have only given these a light polish, this should lift a little with some Goddards attention. The sugar ball is fully hallmarked for London 1860, the milk jug London 1862. Both pieces have ornate monogram ‘MEJ’. LOVELY STERLING SILVER DUTCH CREAM JUG CHERUBS 1907 A very good looking small but heavy gauge silver cream jug, originally made in Holland and imported to the UK by Arthur Graf, bearing import hallmarks for Chester 1907. One side is adorned with cherubs/putti. No dents or damage, there are some minor lines in the lip area of the pouring rim but this is from manufacture/casting, not damage. ANTIQUE 3 PIECE SEMI FLUTED SILVER PLATED TEASET This is a good looking 3 piece set by Thomas Latham & Ernest Morton of Birmingham dating c. 1880. The teapot is 2 pints capacity. Overall gleaming silver, and quite clean. There is some slight plate wear to the raised fluting but it doesn’t really notice in normal light, our photos are taken under natural daylight lamps. C.18TH SOLID SILVER LUKTENVANNSHUS VINAIGRETTE NORWAY This is a good c.18th silver Luktenvannshus (the Norwegian form of a Vinaigrette) that unusually has a 2nd hinged compartment to base. The interior is gilt washed and there are traces of original gilding to the exterior. The underside of the base has feint prick dot worked initials and probably a small inscription below this but now to feint/rubbed to read. Stands very nicely, there are a few small digs mainly to the rear side and some historical professional strengthening of the interior rim of the top compartment. The small split to the lid opening appears to be a deliberate finger nail lift hole rather than damage. GBP249.99 click here to view item in our store

The interior has a dedication but there are no visible monograms etc when being worn. Has a dent to the central chased decoration side and a smaller one to the unchased side but wont notice too much of being worn. The photos have not really picked up the dents. SUPERB ANTIQUE SILVER PLATED ENTRÉE SERVER ARMORIAL This is a very nice heavyweight piece by William Hutton & Sons of Sheffield, complete with its internal 3 section server, one of which with pierced working for draining off fat/fluid. The lid has detachable handle and is engraved with an armorial device of a bird above a crown. The turned wooden handle is a very nice ebony. Overall good and gleaming silver, there is some slight plate wear to the handle and to the interior from use. Lid has some minor knocks and dents.
