The following items will be auctioned on ebay tomorrow Thursday 17 June from 20:15BST (19:15GMT) onwards:
HUGE QUANTITY VINTAGE DINNER & SIDE CUTLERY KNIVES This is a bulk lot of vintage ‘cream handled’ and ivorine handled dinner and side/tea knives etc. Most are 1930’s-1950’s period and of Sheffield manufacture. Suitable for restaurant/catering use etc. Some will be in sets of 6 etc. There are a total of 218 pieces and it’s a heavy lot at nearly 9kg unpacked weight. Generally good – the odd ones will have minor issues. These are in unpolished condition.
ANTIQUE 18 PLACE SETTING EMPTY MAHOGANY CUTLERY CANTEEN This is a nice looking Victorian mahogany veneered canteen for 18 main course place settings and game and beef carvers. The dinner forks will need to be c. 8 inch (20.3cm), the side forks c. 6.75 inch (17cm), dinner knives 10 inch (25.5cm) and the side knives 8.25 inch (21cm). There are no spoon slots, just the knives and forks. There are some cracks to the lid but nothing that bad looking overall and the veneer has a lovely look to it. Interior is quite good for age. Top pull out layer is missing one of its cloth handles.
HEAVY S MORDAN STERLING SILVER PENCIL HOLDER 1913 This is a lovely piece by Samson Mordan, fully hallmarked for London 1913. Extremely heavy gauge silver. The interior of the sliding mechanism has a screw thread. It is 7cm long including the silver link. No dents or damage
SUPERB DANISH SOLID SILVER COFFEE POT DENMARK 1933 A fabulous silver coffee pot bearing full Danish hallmarks for 1933, made by Grann & Laglye of Copenhagen. No dents or damage and interior nice and clean
GOOD STERLING SILVER CANDLESTICK 9 INCH/23CM TALL 1921 A good looking early art deco period tall candlestick fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1921. Wooden underside to base and filled interior. Some minor surface knocks and marks, no major dents. The top may possibly have been resoldered at the stem at some stage but it was a very good job if so (see photos). It’s a good looking piece.
SOLID STERLING SILVER BASTING SPOON BATEMAN 1794 This is a good piece by Peter & Anne Bateman, fully hallmarked for London 1794. Old English pattern and without monograms. See our other items for a good set of 7 Bateman dessert spoons from the same estate. Overall quite fine, one tiny knock to bowl and very slight rim wear from use. Not excessively used.
SOLID STERLING SILVER DESSERT SPOONS BATEMAN 1803 Here are 7 Old English pattern dessert spoons by Peter, Anne & William Bateman, all are fully hallmarked for London 1803. Single initial ‘L’ to underside of handles. See our other items for a good Bateman basting spoon from the same estate. 5 are very good with no dents or damage, one has minor rim knocks, one slightly more visible rim knocks. Bowls are good and sharp to each with very minimal tip wear.
UNUSUAL LARGE & HEAVY SOLID SILVER GEORGE III BOX 1790 A very interesting piece, this is an unusually large George III sterling silver circular box of exceptional weight to size ratio. Unsure of what its purpose would have been. It is fully hallmarked for London 1790 and was made by ‘I.H’ or ‘H.I’ (possibly Joseph Heriot who was registered slightly earlier and known to make a ‘toilet-box’). It is much much larger than your average Georgian snuff box or patch box etc. The lid is nicely engraved with a swans head between 2 plumes, bearing a George cross to neck. It does have issues at its seam joins and ideally requires professional resoldering but it will be well worth getting it done. There is evidence of existing resoldering to interior. The lid is ‘solid’ and just has a few shallow dents.
ANTIQUE SILVER PLATED WHEELBARROW NAPKIN RING HOLDER This is a lovely piece, a c.19th silver plated novelty ‘Wheel Barrow’ form napkin holder made by James W. Tufts of Boston, USA. Overall gleaming silver with some very minor plate wear at edges. The cross bar to the barrow on one side is broken/missing but it is decorative rather than structural.
C.19TH NOVELTY BEGGING DOG SILVER PLATED PEPPER POT What a gorgeous piece this is! The dog is naively formed, begging on hind legs and with a bone to mouth. Unscrews at head for filling. This is probably American and was from the same source as the novelty barrow form napkin holder we have on ebay this week. Plating is part gleaming with some wear particularly to the dogs head and underside. There is a crack in the base of the pot along the left foot at its seam join, this foot is also slightly dented but it still stands very nicely.
ART DECO MAPPIN & WEBB SILVER PLATED TEASTRAINER & BASE This is a good early c.20th silver plated teastrainer and base dish by Mappin & Webb. Gleaming silver, minor plate wear at facets, minor surface marks, no dents or damage.

EXCEPTIONAL HEAVY STERLING SILVER NAPKIN RING PWA 1929 A very heavy sterling silver napkin ring fully hallmarked for Sheffield 1929, made by Henry Atkin of Atkin Brothers. Engraved initials ‘PWA’. Overall surface marks from use/storage. Very very slightly out of perfect shape at rims.

PAIR ORNATE STERLING SILVER NAPKIN RING 1906 A good pair of antique sterling silver pieced work napkin rings fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1906, made by Spurrier & Co. There are very tiny monograms to each. No major dents or damage, just some tiny knocks to body that don’t notice. Very good.
STERLING SILVER PENCIL HOLDER BIRMINGHAM 1901 A nice sterling silver pencil holder fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1901 and with chain links for joining to an Albert etc. Some minor surface knocks.
