STERLING SILVER MILK JUG & SUGAR BOWL COLLIERY INTEREST This is a matching heavyweight Georgian style sterling silver milk jug and sugar bowl by Harrison Brothers & Howson (George Howson). The milk jug is fully hallmarked for London 1911 and its underside is engraved ‘Dr J Robertson Hall from Lambton Colliery Ambulance Class 1914’. It has a single ornate initial ‘H’ engraved to body. The sugar bowl is an exact match by same maker but later, hallmarked for Sheffield 1920 and is engraved to underside ‘Dr J Robertson Hall from Herrington Burn YMCA 1922’. Both have some dents to bodies and some light surface marks and tarnish. GBP149.99 click here to view item in our store

C.19TH OLD SHEFFIELD PLATE SILVER PLATED MEAT COVER A good early c.19th silver on copper meat cover with an interesting heraldic crest. Just a couple of very tiny surface knocks to the main body and a slight knock line across the top, no major dents as such. C.19TH OLD SHEFFIELD PLATE MEAT COVER CENTAUR ARMORIAL An early c.19th silver on copper meat cover with an armorial device of a centaur. Detachable handle. Tinned interior. Some overall shallow knocks and scratches. No deep dents. Some copper bleed but overall gleaming silver. PAUL STORR GEORGE III SOLID SILVER BOWL LONDON 1800 A very nice looking piece by the legendary silversmith Paul Storr. Fully hallmarked for London 1800. The upper rim is finely pierced and incorporates stylistic stag horns to its interior. Has some dents to its lower body area, 3 are which are visible from the interior. FABULOUS GEORGE III LARGE SOLID SILVER TOASTRACK 1795 This is an absolutely splendid looking George III sterling silver toastrack made by Solomon Hougham and fully hallmarked for London 1795. IMPRESSIVE SOLID SILVER INKWELL STANDISH 1916 A fine looking large desktop sterling silver double inkwell standish by George Edward & Sons (David & George Edward) of Glasgow, fully hallmarked for Sheffield 1916. Made in the Georgian taste with reeded decoration to rims and feet. Superior gauge silver. Both of the original glass liners are present. The 2 inkwells are also hallmarked and detachable if desired via thumbscrews to underside. Silver weight is a hefty 844g (29.77 metric oz/27.14 troy oz) & the 2 glass liners an equally impressive 321g. Overall extremely good, there is just one tiny knock to one of the well lids and a historical resolder of one of this lids hinge but it’s a fairly good job. SOLID STERLING SILVER DESSERT SPOONS LONDON 1814 Here are 4 Old English pattern dessert spoons by Richard Turner, all are fully hallmarked for London 1814. No monograms. In very good shape with no dents, some tiny pinpricks knocks to bowls and one has a very slight edge rim knock near bowl tip but this is all quite insignificant and just mentioned for complete accuracy. SUPERB SOLID SILVER GEORGE III 9 BAR TOASTRACK 1810 A splendid looking George III toastrack having 9 shape bars and fully hallmarked for London 1810. There are no makers marks. One flat end of the top section has a thistle armorial, the other a feinter crown armorial device. Overall very good, there is some very historical resoldering to a few of the bar joins but it doesn’t detract or notice unless looking for it. GBP399.99 click here to view item in our store
MAGNIFICENT SCOTTISH SOLID SILVER WHISKY CURLING FLAGON This is a quite magnificent piece, made by George Edward & Sons of Glasgow and fully hallmarked for Glasgow 1893. The lid is formed as a curling stone and has a detachable drinking/measure cup. The body has profusely repouse decoration and an unengraved shield area to front. Above this are 2 crossed curling brushes and the motto ‘May we ne’er lie a hog when we should be at the tee’. This is a full sized ‘bottle’ and will accommodate a full bottle of whisky. EXCELLENT SOLID STERLING SILVER SERVING TRAY 1.9KG 1932 This is a substantial sterling silver serving tray fully hallmarked for Sheffield 1932 and in quite superb condition. The rear has a presentation engraving dated 1933 but there is thankfully no engraving to the front. Made by George Harrison. Measures 55cm across the handles (21.75 inch) and 34.7cm (just under 13.75 inch) wide. Weighs 1941g (68.47 metric oz/62.4 troy oz) No dents or damage, a couple of tiny surface marks only. NATHANIEL MILLS STERLING SILVER CASTLE TOP AIDE MEMOIRE This is a superb aide-memoir by the infamous Nathaniel Mills depicting Windsor Castle to front and with monogram of ‘EFD’ to rear. Fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1847. The interior leaves have Monday thru Saturday engraved to their tops and it is bound in fine leather with watermark silk interior lining. The only thing missing is the pencil. Excellent, no dents or damage, very minor marks to the interior lining and original pencil scribbles to the dated leaves. SUPERB PAIR SOLID SILVER INKWELLS REID NEWCASTLE 1868 An exceptional pair of sterling silver and cut glass ink and pounce pots by Edward Ker Reid of Newcastle, fully hallmarked for London 1868/1869. Formed as lily pads, the glass centres are finely cut and frosted. Weighable silver (i.e. the base lily pads) is 299g. Both base trays are overall fine, one having a very minor and insignificant small knock. One glass well has minor fleabiting to its interior rim, the other minor fleabiting to its exterior rim but overall they are both in quite exceptionally fine condition and undamaged in any minute way to exteriors. GBP749.99 click here to view item in our store
HUGE LOT 900x VINTAGE & ANTIQUE SPOONS FORKS ETC – 34kg This is a massive lot of vintage and antique pieces, mainly forks and spoons but also sugar tongs, sifters etc etc. It is a mix of materials – estimate about 50% is silver plated (EPNS), the rest being stainless steel, chrome plated etc etc. Some will be in sets. There are a total of 900 pieces exactly and it is extremely heavy at over 34kg unpacked weight. Variable and as found. We have not polished these. SUPERB LADIES TRAVELING VANITY SET SILVER PIGSKIN 1960 This is a fabulous vintage ladies traveling set house in a Swaine-Brigg pigskin case with lots of pullout sections etc. Comprises: hand mirror, hairbrush, clothes brush, box for toothbrush, 4x small crème jars, 1x large crème jar or powder pot, 4x perfume bottles, 5 piece manicure set, section for nail polish, jewelry etc. Its just lovely! The jars/bottles are vintage plastic by Shipton, so you know they wont get broken. All of the lids and backs are sterling silver and fully hallmarked for London 1959/1960, maker DCBs. The pigskin lid is lettered with ‘NJA’ as is the exterior protective case which is nicely press-stud fastened all over and each of the silver items also monogrammed NJA. A very nice touch is that the brushes unusually have screw fittings so that they can be easily dismantled and re-bristled as and when they wear out, so it will last for many years to come. CASED STERLING SILVER & NZ GREENSTONE JADE SPOONS 1923 A set of 6 sterling silver spoons with New Zealand Jade (Greenstone) handles, fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1923. They were retailed in Auckland, New Zealand. No dents, no chips to handles. Handles have natural minor flaws in the Jade, they are not cracks. UNUSUAL GEORGE III STERLING SILVER & BONE BUTTER SPADE This is an early c.19th sterling silver and bone handled butter spade. The hallmarks are unfortunately very rubbed but you can make out the George III duty mark, date letter ‘n’ and part of the makers mark of ‘?.P’ Structurally solid, there are some kinks to the silver from use but its quite thick gauge. STERLING SILVER CHERUBS SCENT BOTTLE LONDON 1903 A nice looking faceted cut glass scent bottle with Cherub lid fully hallmarked for London 1903. Glass overall good with some minor fleabites. Some residual bloom to the interior of the bottle from past contents. No stopper. Silver lid has a minor split at its natural horizontal seam join but it is smooth to touch etc and quite solid. LOVELY STERLING SILVER AND CUT GLASS PIN POT 1933 This is a very nice looking piece of good weight cut glass with hobnail star shape cuts and vertical tapering cuts. The silver rim is fully hallmarked for London 1933. BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE SILVER PLATED TEAPOT SHEFFIELD This is such a gorgeous piece – probably made by (William) White Henderson & Co of Sheffield c. 1870. It is beautifully engraved with birds and foliage, has a lovely semi-fluted lower body and a very fine looking handle. 2.5 pints capacity. Absolutely gleaming silver, no dents, no plate wear, very minor surface marks, fairly clean interior. SUPERB OLD SHEFFIELD SILVER PLATED TEA URN SAMOVAR A most impressive George III Old Sheffield Plate tea urn with a coat of arms engraved to front. This is such a stunning looking piece and unusually designed so that the main body can be rotated and removed entirely from the base if desired. Has a lovely ebony handled tap. This is definitely Old Sheffield plate, not electroplated. Bearing in mind how expensive tea was back then this must have belonged to an extremely wealthy family, the coat of arms may well be worth some research. The tap is interesting as it is George II in style, the main Adam shape of the body and general style point to a best guess date of c. 1800-1820. Gleaming silver, no major dents or damage, some minor surface knocks and a dent to the acorn shaped lid finial and slight knock to the interior rim of the lid. GBP499.99 click here to view item in our store
ORNATE ANTIQUE 3 PIECE SILVER PLATED TEASET DIXON This is an impressive looking ‘marriage’ set (the teapot is different from the sugar bowl and milk jug but of similar shape and style). The teapot has engraved initials ‘GR’ to each side and is 2.5 pints capacity. No makers marks. The sugar bowl and milk jug are by James Dixon & Sons and quite early. All pieces are absolutely gleaming silver, there is some minor copper bleed to one side of the sugar bowl. ART DECO SOLID STERLING SILVER 3 PIECE TEASET 1930 A 3 piece sterling silver teaset by Emile Viner, fully hallmarked for Sheffield 1930. Teapot is approx 1 pint capacity, measures 24cm spout to handle and weighs 415g. Sugar bowl is 11cm diameter and weighs 116g. Milk jug is 6.3cm tall and weighs 126g. Teapot: slight knock to base rim and some minor surface digs to lid otherwise fine. Sugar bowl: No dents or damage. Milk jug: One small shallow dent to body and footrim. SUPERB SOLID STERLING SILVER TEASET 1934 1106g This is a very good looking and high quality sterling silver teaset by the Northern Goldsmiths Co of Newcastle, fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1932 (teapot) and 1934 (the others). Each piece has nice Celtic pattern decoration to rims. Teapot measures 26cm spout to handle and weighs 675g. Sugar bowl measures 15cm across the handles and weighs 251g. Milk jug measures 10.2cm high and weighs 180g. Teapot: 1 tiny knock to upper body, clean interior. Sugar bowl, no dents or damage. SOLID STERLING SILVER BASTING SPOON NEWCASTLE 1778 A nice large piece of Newcastle silver, this is a basting spoon by John Langlands & John Robertson bearing partial Newcastle hallmarks as is usual for this period and dating 1778-1779 (the makers mark with the dots in between were only used 1778-1779). Old English pattern, no monograms Overall very good for age, no dents, no real rim wear to bowl. Not excessively used.
