LARGE EDWARDIAN OAK EMPTY 12 SETTINGS CUTLERY CANTEEN This is an antique oak cutlery & flatware chest for 12 place settings including soup & sauce ladles etc. There are 2 pull out fitted drawers and the top layer which is unusually an ‘all wood’ fitting. Vacant brass shield to lid. It has brass side handles for carrying. Main knife slots are quite large and will accommodate approx 9 3/4 to 10 inches dinner knives and approx 8 1/4 inches for the side knives – Please ask if you require another specific measurements. Some cosmetic wear and tear and a few small paint spots to the exterior but not in too bad shape. Interior velvet is showing its age a little in places. No key.
UNUSUAL ANTIQUE COPELAND PORCELAIN CUP & SAUCER 1869 This is a lovely looking piece by Copeland bearing diamond registration marks for 1869. Nice vibrant raised pink wheatsheafs and gilt finishing. Cup is excellent, no chips, hairlines etc. Saucer has a small chip to its raised cup holder but otherwise fine.
STERLING SILVER ENAMEL SPOON CLEMENT BERG NORWAY A very fine looking early c.20th Norwegian silver gilt and royal blue enamel spoon by Clement Berg of Oslo, the rear of bowl being finished with small pearls of white enamel and the front of bowl engraved with a monogram ‘LW’. Shallow loss of enamel to front top of handle but otherwise fine with minor surface marks.
STERLING SILVER ENAMEL SPOON TOSTRUP NORWAY A good looking early c.20th Norwegian silver and lime green enamel spoon by J. Tostrup of Oslo, both front and back of handle are enameled and interspersed with raised star and cross shaped patterns. It has a sugar spoon sized bowl. No loss of enamel. Bowl shows surface marks from use/polishing.
CHINESE DRAGON SILVER DOLLAR COIN DISH KWANG-TUNG 1890 This is a very good Kwang-Tung (Guangdong) province silver dollar coin (7 Mace and 2 Candareens) set into an unmarked silver dish. Minted c. 1890. Coin is very good with some minor surface marks to the obverse (underneath) and a quite clear reverse (top side up in the dish). The dish itself is in fine condition with an insignificant ‘pinprick’ sized knock.
SUPERB EDWARD VII CORONATION SCEPTRE BUTTONHOOK 1901 This is a super piece, never seen another like it. Formed as a royal sceptre, he crown is inset with a nice red glass orb. It would have been silver plated on brass originally but this has worn back consistently to brass with the dual portraits of Queen Alexander and King Edward in a silver colour. Slight kink to the arm. The glass orb has natural ‘crack’ lines through it presumably from where it is screwed into the top of the crown, it is all intact however.
STERLING SILVER ANOINTING SPOON CHESTER 1907 A slightly unusual anointing spoon, these are normally made just pre or on a Coronation year, this one however is fully hallmarked for Chester 1907 – why we have no idea! Made by Saunders & Shepherd. No dents or damage
GOOD BRADFORD BAPTIST CHURCH CENTENARY MEDAL 1853 A good looking heavy, presumed bronze, medal made by J. Taylor to commemorate the centenary of the Bradford Baptist Church in 1853. The front depicts William Crabtree and William Steadman. We have deliberately not polished this, it has some light tarnish, a couple of tiny rim knocks but no major dents. There is a ‘flaw line’ that you can see just above the makers mark that runs from the centre out to the rim, this is literally how it was struck as far as we can tell, it has no depth to it.
ORNATE STERLING SILVER NAPKIN RING CHARLES HORNER 1919 A good ornate sterling silver napkin ring with no monograms or initials. Fully hallmarked for Chester 1919 and made by Charles Horner. Just one tiny insignificant surface knock & some minor surface marks, very nice.
STERLING SILVER HOBNAIL CUT GLASS CHERUBS JAR 1912 A lovely looking dressing table jar with sterling silver lid in the Cherubs (aka Reynolds Angels) pattern, fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1912. No damage to glass. Lid has some dents and some pinprick size holes (barely noticeable) to the pattern. Looks lovely.
SCOTTISH ARTS & CRAFTS STERLING SILVER TROPHY CUP 1905 This is a lovely looking piece, needs some minor work but well worth getting it done. Shaped in thistle form, raised on 3 scrolled feet. The engraving states ‘Mid Argyle Arts and Crafts Association Prize for Home-Spuns presented by Lady Glen-Coats won by’. It is fully hallmarked for Sheffield 1905 and made by J & J Maxfield Ltd. 2 of its legs have become detached from the base and mid height small circular ring support but it shouldn’t be too difficult to get them resoldered in place. Otherwise good with minor rim knocks.
STERLING SILVER SCOTTISH SPOONS ISLE OF MULL SILVER CO Here are 2 lovely spoons by the Isle of Mull Silver Co (Philip D A Campbell), each fully hallmarked for Edinburgh 1983. In their original boxes. Silver weight is 15g. Both spoons are fine and probably unused. Boxes have some marks to their plastic lids and card boxes slightly out of shape.
STERLING SILVER CHARLES & DI LTD EDITION SPOONS 1981 Here are 2 limited edition spoons made by Norman Cherry of Kelso, Scotland to commemorate the Royal Wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer in 1981. These are limited edition numbers 458 and 459 of 1000. Each is fully hallmarked for Edinburgh 1981. Silver weight is 16g. Both spoons are fine with minor storage tarnish. One box is good, the other has some pen scribbles.
VINTAGE INDIAN SILVER ELEPHANT TEA STRAINER A lovely early c.20th silver teas trainer decorated with elephants. This is unmarked so we technically have to sell it as ‘white metal’ No dents or damage, minor surface marks to interior of bowl.
ORNATE ANTIQUE INDIAN SILVER PEPPER POT A very good looking piece with ornate chased decoration and thumbscrew to underside for filling purposes. This is unmarked so we technically have to sell it as ‘white metal’ Has a dent at its shaker hole area and a couple to body but nothing too significant, it’s a good solid piece.
PAIR ORNATE INDIAN SILVER ANIMAL JUNGLE NAPKIN RING A pair of napkin rings with pierced work and engraved decoration of animals in a jungle setting. Early c.20th Indian origin. These are unmarked so we technically have to sell them as ‘white metal’ No dents or damage
ANTIQUE INDIAN SILVER ANIMAL NAPKIN RING A good looking napkin ring with animals in a rope and scroll type border and a vacant shield for engraving if desired. Early c.20th Indian origin. This is marked with a ‘75’ so we presume is of 75 parts per 100 silver. No dents or damage, minor surface marks. The rings seam join is clearly visible to the interior, it is how it was made, not damage, it was crudely finished.
2X ORNATE ANTIQUE SILVER PLATED NAPKIN RINGS Here are 2 nice pieces. The one with stylistic birds around and unengraved cartouche has diamond registration marks, although difficult to decipher this means it was definitely designed pre 1884. The other very nice looking one has a single initial ‘M’. Both in good overall shape, overall gleaming silver with slight plate wear but its not that visible under normal artificial light.
LARGE ANTIQUE SILVER PLATED COFFEE POT DIXON SHEFFIELD This is a tall mid c.19th silver plated (EPBM) coffee pot by James Dixon & Sons of Sheffield with nicely carved wooden handle. 2 pints (1 litre) capacity. Overall gleaming silver with some slight plate wear. A few dents to body. The plating to underside of lid has some bubbling and lift.
