LARGE COMYNS STERLING SILVER DRESSING TABLE MIRROR 1894 Item #26822 This is a large antique easel backed dressing table mirror made by William Comyns, the silver frame fully hallmarked for London 1894. It has a monogram to top of ‘SS’. Overall not bad for age, the silver is in quite good condition with just some minor knocks and missing a pin to top right corner where the backing wood has perished just a little bit. The rear backing material is a bit jaded but obviously you wouldn’t be looking at this side when in use. The mirror surface has lost some of its silvering in places but it is still useable as is. STERLING SILVER & CUT GLASS BUTTER DISH & KNIFE 1938 Item #26823 A nice sterling silver and cut glass butter dish complete with its original matching butter knife. The silver is all fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1938, maker William Suckling Ltd and the combined silver weight is 69g. In fine overall condition, some tiny fleabites to the glass but they don’t really notice, no dents to the base dish, knife has a minor snub to its tip from use. CASED CUT GLASS BUTTER DISH & SOLID SILVER KNIFE 1929 Item #26824 A very nice cased set of cut glass butter dish complete with its original matching butter knife. The knife is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1929, maker Barker Brothers and weighs 10g. The cutwork is lovely and incorporates nice star and floral cuts and a castellated type rim. VINTAGE 900 SOLID SILVER TWO HANDLED BOWL Item #26828 This is a small bowl of finger bowl type size and probably from Eastern Europe/Western former Russian states (maybe Estonia), it is simply stamped with a ‘0900’ (i.e. 900 parts silver per 1000) to underside, so technically sold as white metal. Definitely not a recent piece, it was fairly ‘black’ with aged tarnish when we found it. No dents, one handle has a small split which could be easily rectified with a dab of solder, still fairly sturdy as is. Some minor residual tarnish spots after a light foam polish. 4X MAPPIN & WEBB STERLING SILVER ASHTRAYS 1936 1937 Item #26886 Here are 2 pairs of ashtrays by Mappin & Webb, the rectangular ones fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1936 and the square ones for Sheffield 1937. COMYNS STERLING SILVER CIGAR CIGARETTE BOX LONDON 1938 Item #26887 A sterling silver box fully hallmarked for London 1938 made by Comyns. It has monogram ‘BLLR’ to lid and to front ‘Woking Golf Club John Low Cup 1939’. Cedarwood interior. No interior divider so will take both cigars and cigarettes. Overall quite nice. Has a small split to left front corner vertical of lid but fairly smooth to touch. One small knock to body below this and a dent to rear body near one of the feet. A few small dents to lid. No monograms or engraving to exterior, has a presentation plaque to interior of lid ‘Sir Edward Thompson Golf Trophy Denham 1958 Winner J.B.Woodeson’. Requires some slight attention as below. Has a dent to lid at left hand rear side and splits to its vertical front lid corners. There are horizontal splits along the hinged rear area of the lid join, but its not about to fall apart. The full hallmarks are hidden behind the glass mirror but you can see from the lid that it is definitely the Birmingham 1946 ‘W’ date letter. STERLING SILVER INKWELL BIRMINGHAM 1921 Item #26894 A sterling silver inkwell fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1921, maker Benjamin Thomas Greening. The lid is engraved with initials ‘GMG’. Wooden underside. Has overall denting to its lid but it sits fine on the well. Some small knocks to body and a dent to base rim. There are 2 horizontal strips of silver that attach the lid to the base at its hinge, and the lower of these is split from the base and ideally needs a solder. There is no glass liner. Nice engraved repeated floral decoration to the silver. Monogrammed ‘LJH’. Will accommodate a ‘fob clock’ of 3 inches diameter. Overall very good, silver fine and undamaged, some scuffs to the leather casing and the easel support has been repaired with an old tape measure section. Some wear to interior lining. LOVELY CHINESE EXPORT DRAGON SILVER HANDMIRROR Item #26900 A lovely looking piece of Chinese export dragon silver, early c.20th possibly by Kwan Wo. The mirror back features 2 dragons in deep repouse work on an engraved cloud type background. There is a further dragon engraved to both front and rear of handle. Overall good, no dents just a couple of tiny knocks. Mirror glass is fairly good with a few minor scratches and a few small spots the silvered back, still perfectly useable. 10x c.19TH DUTCH SILVER APOSTLE TEASPOONS Item #26905 Here is a set of 10 apostle spoon with fruit & bird decoration to lower handles (front and back). We presume they are Dutch early c.19th. There is additionally an 11th spoon which is broken in 2 at its handle and could be resoldered. One has a solder repair to its handle. ORNATE BIRKS STERLING SILVER BRUSH MIRROR SET ‘T’ Item #26906 A lovely looking vintage set of ornately chased sterling silver by Birks of Canada. Each piece is engraved with a single gothic initial ‘T’. Comprises hand mirror, hairbrush, clothes brush, nail file and a comb holder. Nylon bristles. No dents. The mirror surface has deteriorated quite badly with spotting, although just about usable, but, ideally the glass needs removing and the silvering to underside replacing. EARLY WEDGWOOD JAPERWARE BISCUIT BARREL Item #26914 This is a nice piece of dark blue Jasperware by Wedgwood, it would appear to predate the introduction of the 3 character date marking system introduced in 1860, there is only the impressed ‘WEDGWOOD’ and impressed letter ‘F’ and hand incised letter ‘P’. The Britannia metal mounts would originally have been silver plated but this has worn back to a pewter colour. Overall not bad, no damage to the ceramic, slight dent to metal rim. There is some minor movement of the metal rim, not much but wouldn’t advise carrying it via its handle. Very nice as a display piece. GBP44.99 click here to view item in our store
GEORGE III STERLING SILVER CRUET STAND COASTER 1771 Item #26915 This is a nice piece of silver, fully hallmarked for London 1771 and obviously would have originally had a handle and bottle dividers but makes a great decanter or bottle coaster. Wooden underside. Makers marks are rubbed unfortunately. No monograms. In good overall shape for age, no splits to the pierced work gallery, a small section of the underside rim is missing. The base formed like a smaller wine bottle holder and could be used as bottle holder if desired for a half sized wine bottle. ANTIQUE STERLING SILVER FISH SERVERS SHEFFIELD 1879 Item #26928 A pair of sterling silver bead pattern fish servers. Both pieces are fully hallmarked for Sheffield 1879 and were made by ‘J.S’. Both pieces have some ancient re-cementing to handle joins but are absolutely rigid. They would look much nice if professionally reset. ANTIQUE STERLING SILVER BEAD FISH EATERS SHEFFIELD 1878 Item #26929 Here are 6 sterling silver knives and forks by Martin Hall & Co. The forks are fully hallmarked for Sheffield 1878, the knife blades are fully hallmarked for Sheffield 1864 so presumably the forks were later engraved to match the knives, as the design is identical. There are shields to handles and they have been erased at some stage. All pieces good and sturdy. There is some ancient re-cementing at handle joins and they would look nicer if professionally reset. 3 of the knife handles have their shields facing up, the other 3 are facing down. Fork prongs good and sharp, slightly out of perfect shape from use. Some handles have slight denting/digs. A few small tarnish spots. GBP224.99 click here to view item in our store
SUPERB STERLING VIKING SILVER BRUSH MIRROR SET 1905 Item #26930 A fine and unusual cased sterling silver dressing table set by Colen Hewer Cheshire, each piece fully hallmarked for Chester 1905 and depicts a Viking Longboat entering a bay or fjord with sunrise or sunset in background and with seashell handles and further shell and seaweed type design to sides. The pieces are engraved with a monogram ‘MEW’. Overall very good, there are small holes to the stern of the ship and a few minor knocks but that’s about all that is wrong with the silver, the mirror is fine and useable and the bristles are in good shape other than balding to 1 of the clothes brushes. The set would have originally had a matching comb holder which is missing. Some scuffs to the case and slight looseness to 1 corner. GBP174.99 click here to view item in our store
