UNUSUAL SHAPE STERLING SILVER CIGAR BOX 1931 Item #26956 A sterling silver & cedarwood cigar/cigarette box fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1931. It has an unusual tall shape with sloped sides. Engraved ‘REP 1-11-41’. Has a dent and slight split to lower front left corner, a few minor knocks elsewhere. Some overall engrained tarnish to the engine turned decoration. STERLING SILVER CIGAR BOX LONDON 1924 Item #26957 A sterling silver and cedarwood cigarette/cigar box fully hallmarked for London 1924. Has an ornate conjoined monogram of ‘SJ’ or ‘JS’ to lid and date May 27th 1925. Overall good with some small shallow knocks/dents. Hallmarks are part rubbed but legible. FINE GEORGE IV NEWCASTLE STERLING SILVER CREAM JUG 1824 Item #27272 This is a splendid piece of Newcastle silver, made by John Watson, date letter part rubbed but by combination of the duty mark and shape of letter almost certainly the 1824/5 letter ‘K’. Fine acanthus decorated handle and raised on shell feet, the nicely shaped body has a gilt interior. A good size and shape. This one measures 8.3cm high and 7.7cm diameter and weighs 112g. 2) A very similar piece of slightly smaller dimensions, single mark to underside and scratch engraved initials and date ‘1832’. EARLY CHAWNER STERLING SILVER TABLESPOONS C. 1765 Item #27297 Here is a set of 4 early Chawner family tablespoons in the Old English pattern dating c. 1765. 3 are by Thomas & William Chawner, one by Thomas. Each has an armorial device of an arm wielding a dagger below the motto ‘FIDELITER’. Overall good, one has a historical professional repair to a rim split, the split is still just visible from interior but not from exterior and it’s a good solid useable piece. ORNATE VICTORIAN SILVER PLATED FLATWARE SHEFFIELD 12 PL Item #27305 This really is a superb large set of late Victorian silver plated flatware by Martin Hall & Co of Sheffield, one of the best c.19th makers of flatware. Dates c. 1895. Each piece has beautifully bright cut decoration. This would look superb on the Xmas or Thanksgiving table. Comprises 12 each of Dinner Forks, Dessert/Side forks, Dessert Spoons, Soup Spoons, 4x serving/tablespoons, 2x sauce ladles, 2x large basting (gravy) spoons and 1x large soup ladle. Total of 57 pieces. If you are going for the truly authentic look they would originally have had large ‘bone’ handled knives to match. Mainly very good for age, most pieces are lightly used with a few of each type showing slightly more wear. Some plate wear to rear tips of the dinner forks. The ‘worst’ pieces are 2 of the soup spoons that have some spotting/marks to bowl interiors. The soup ladle has some minor spots. There are no dents. GBP199.99 click here to view item in our store
SUITE ELKINGTON SILVER PLATED LAUREL FLATWARE c. 1911 Item #27306 This is a large quantity of silver plated flatware in the Laurel pattern by Elkington & Co, most pieces from 1911/1913 with some a few years later. Comprises: 23x dinner forks (their sizes vary by a small amount between 2 date letters), 10x tablespoons, 6x side/dessert forks, 6x buffet forks (made late 1950’s but same pattern), 6x teaspoons, 6x eggspoons or coffee spoons, 4x salt spoons, 3x mustard spoons, 1x sugar sifting ladle, 1x small sugar tongs, 1x large sugar tongs, 1x large soup ladle. There are also 12 dinner knives original to the set with sturdy riveted handles. Total of 80 pieces. Generally good, variable use, most pieces absolutely presentable on the dinner table. Some of the forks show some plate wear to rears from use and resting on tables but most of the dinner forks in particular are quite good for age. The dessert forks show the most wear. HUGE EDWARDIAN ELKINGTON EMPTY CUTLERY FLATWARE CHEST Item #27307 This is a ‘monster’ of an antique Edwardian period chest! Made by Elkington & Co, it has 5 pull out drawers and can accommodate up to 36 main course place settings! Mahogany stained exterior with oak interior drawer fittings with nice brass handles and side carrying handles. It is an extremely heavy piece, far too heavy for our scales but we estimate c. 20kg in weight, and that’s when its empty! Drawer 1 takes a 7 piece carving set, 22 table knives and 3 butter knives. Drawer 2 takes 14 dinner knives, 12 egg spoons, 18 cheese knives (side knives). Drawer 3 takes 6 salt spoons, 4 mustard spoons, large & small sugar tongs, 2x sugar sifters, 18 dessert forks and 18 dessert spoons. Drawer 4 takes 18x teaspoons and 36x table/dinner forks. Drawer 5 takes 18x tablespoons, 2x gravy spoons, 1 or more soup ladles (stacked), 4x sauce ladles. Structurally sound, has cosmetic wear/scratches but nothing too significant. Interior generally good with marks from use and one drawer having a stain. Some slight cosmetic wear and tear to some of the slots. No key but doors stay flat on a level surface.
