GOOD VINTAGE CANTEEN SILVER PLATED OLD ENGLISH 75 piece Item #25647 This is a comprehensive vintage canteen of silver plated flatware in the Old English pattern with ivorine handles knives in wooden storage chest. Comprises 6 settings of: Dinner Fork, Dinner Knife, Side Fork, Side Knife, Fish Fork, Fish Knife, soup spoon, dessert spoon, pastry fork, teaspoon, coffee spoon + 2 table spoons, dessert server, salt spoon, mustard spoon, sugar tongs, carving fork, sharpening steel & 2 preserve spoons. Total of 75 pieces. All pieces are original to the set and made by B&J Sippel of Sheffield. Probably a 1950’s set. All gleaming silver and not heavily used, a few pieces showing minor wear. VINTAGE CHASED SILVER PLATED TABLE PLACE MATS SUITE Item #27377 This is a good vintage suite of silver plated place mats ideal for the Xmas dinner table. 8 of the smaller sized (16.5cm) ones for dinner plates, 1 medium (19.5cm) and 2 large (23) for serving bowls. Patterns vary across the 3 sizes. They all have baized undersides. All gleaming silver with some marks from use, the 2 larger ones show a little wear. Some marks to the underside baizes. SET 4 BRIGHT CUT STERLING SILVER TENNIS SPOONS 1925 Item #27432 Here are 4 very unusual vintage sterling silver small teaspoons with crossed tennis racket fretwork handles and bright cut decoration. They have quite narrow bowls so may even have been intended for use as eggspoons. Fully hallmarked for London 1925 and made by Josiah Williams & Co (David Landsborough Fullerton). Fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1913, makers marks rubbed. No damage, there is a small natural recess in the mother of pearl at top of handle, it is not a chip. ORNATE ETCHED & CUT GLASS STERLING SILVER VASE 1915 Item #27451 This is a beautiful piece of glass with finely etched swag and floral decoration to lower body and hobnail cutwork to upper body. Silver rimmed and fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1915. Glass is overall good with just a small chip to the underside of the footrim. BRIGHT CUT OLD ENGLISH SILVER TEASPOONS NEWCASTLE 1772 Item #27460 A trio of bright cut Old English pattern teaspoons by John Jobson of Newcastle, bearing bottom stamped partial hallmarks of lion passant and makers mark only. Engraved with monogram ‘HES’. Will date fairly accurately 1771-1773, Jobson started alone after being apprenticed to John Langlands in 1771 and went ‘bust’ in 1775. Not often seen. ANTIQUE PEWTER POURING TANKARD NORFOLK INTEREST Item #27463 This is an early c.19th pewter tankard measure with side pouring spout – the front engraved ‘J. Collier Load of Hay Helliington’. Hellington is a village in Norfolk. Bears a verification mark for Essex we believe. Top of handle engraved with a letter ‘C’. It’s a very heavy piece. Break to lower handle but still sturdy/can be lifted via it. Ancient repair to one side of spout. LARGE C.19TH EARTHENWARE APOTHECARY JAR Item #27505 This is a good looking blue and white earthenware apothecary jar label to front ‘UNC.HYD.OX.RUB.’ We cannot ascribe a maker from the marks which are to both to the inside of jar and underside of lid, but the backstamps are definitely c.19th Some chips to footrim and upper rim and a star craze to underside of base (doesn’t go through the piece so not a crack). Lid has a chip to rim and hairline but not that visible when in place on jar. Some firing fissures in the slip of the lid knop from manufacture. Cup fine, there is one tiny fleabite to rim but it is under the glaze, so how it was made. Saucer has tripod resting digs to underside (from manufacture), one of these is exposing the ceramic a little as is not glazed over, and some very slight glaze crazing.
