GEORGE III NEWCASTLE STERLING SILVER DISH STAND c. 1805 Item #28014 A very unusual piece of Newcastle silver, this appears to be a dish or cake stand (perhaps for use with a ceramic plate or glass bowl with drilled centre) by Alexander Kelty, bearing Newcastle hallmarks, no date letter which is not that unusual, but definitely dating c. 1805. The central fixing/spigot pin is slightly moveable and was designed to hold something of about 0.5cm thickness. No dents, some surface tarnish. Possible resoldering evident to underside footrim at interior but it may equally be just how it was made. In order for it to be used as originally intended it will need to its fixing pegs to interior bent out so that the central spigot pin can be removed. GBP149.99 click here to view item in our store
C.19TH DOULTON FLOW BLUE SWING HANDLED BOWL Item #28015 An unusual piece of Doulton dating c. 1885, either used as a covered sugar bowl or butter dish. The lid and rim are EPBM although the plating has worn to all but underside of the lid. Still an attractive piece. IONA CELTIC ART SAUCE LADLE IAN MACCORMICK Item #28027 A very interesting piece made by Ian MacCormick on Iona under the Celtic Art Industries name. This is a large sauce ladle made from nickel silver on copper rather than Ian’s normal sterling work. It is marked with the usual CAI and IMC marks and IONA. Presumably 1940’s/early 50’s in date. ISLE OF MULL CELTIC CADDY SPOON C. 1950 Item #28028 This is a nickel silver caddy spoon made on the Isle of Mull presumably late 40’s/early 50’s. Some wear/tarnish patches but in overall good shape. EARLY C.19TH BLOWN GLASS WINE DECANTER BOTTLE Item #28029 An interesting piece, this is a hand blown brown glass decanter bottle with a fairly high kick to base, unsmoothed pontil and applied handle with ‘upturn’ heel. The collar appears to be pewter or Britannia metal and the stopper is a silver plated knights head. No damage to glass, the cork to stopper is part perished. VICTORIAN CUT GLASS SILVER PLATED CLARET JUG C. 1870 Item #28030 A fine looking piece of Victorian cut glass in a nice ‘bellied’ shape with silver plated upper and handle. The lid finial is formed as a mythical bird. No damage, there are some minor extra cuts to the underside footrim, obviously an error when the piece was made but they are not chips and have always been there. Made by R.F. Mosley & Sons of Sheffield and will date c. 1880. 6 forks and 4 knives have small tight cracks to handles from ferrule areas but all are smooth and absolutely rigid. Slight handle stains. Plating to uppers is generally good with some slight wear to rear of forks. One knife has a plate spot to blade. Some minor verdigris to the ferrule areas. These are .830 standard silver. 9 are absolutely perfect, 2 have tiny surface enamel digs (no loss of the blue enamel) and 1 has a small scratch to rear of bowl enamel but these 3 faults are seriously very minor. VICTORIAN CUT GLASS CLEAR & CRANBERRY PICKLE JARS x5 Item #28098 Here are 5 lovely Victorian pickle jars in clear and cranberry painted cut glass with grapes & vine decoration, all slightly different. 3 are definitely hand blown, 2 have smoothed pontil marks to undersides, 1 has unsmoothed pontil mark from the blowing process. Heights range from 16.5cm to 18.5 including lids. They look superb displayed in a kitchen on a windowsill. All in fairly good order, some fleabites/surface chips to the jars and some general fleabiting to the lid stems, with a few chips but these cant be seen when in place in the jars. One jar has a couple of ‘burst bubbles’ to interior neck but this is from manufacture, not subsequent damage. Some slight wear to the cranberry color in places.
