ORNATE ANTIQUE STERLING SILVER BEAKER CUP LONDON 1871 Item #28252 A good looking beaker/stirrup cup fully hallmarked for London 1871 and made by Thomas Smily. Bright cut engraved fern decoration and further bright cut work to top and base rims. Engraved monogram JWNP to one side (previously belonged to Joseph Petty, ex Sheriff of Newcastle). One very small dent to base rim. They are engraved with the names of presumed racehorses: Waistcoat 1922, Raider 1923, Dashwood 1924 and Daring 1924. One has a small surface dent above the engraved name (Daring), also Waistcoat has a small knock. It has an armorial badge to front of the Clan McDuff. Some breaks in the pierced work behind the applied badge (presumably to allow it to be applied) but otherwise as made with a small spot of solder to the front base.
