Auction update preview 23 December 2010
The following items will be loaded to ebay next Thursday 30th December for 10 day auction. Some nice Christofle items and good Georgian silver tongs amongst these.
ORNATE ANTIQUE STERLING SILVER CIGARETTE CASE 1904 A fine looking small cigarette case fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1904 and made by ‘C.L.R’. It is engraved with monogram ‘AM’. This item has been relisted due to non-payment. There are some overall shallow knocks but they only really notice at interior. The silver is slightly flexible and ‘pushes’ a little put still shuts tightly etc. No interior straps.
ORNATE STERLING SILVER SAUCE BOTTLE HOLDER COASTER 1902 A very fine looking antique sterling silver bottle frame coaster fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1902, maker Arthur Willmore Pennington. It takes a bottle of approx 4.8cm diameter and fits perfectly the modern standard 150ml bottle size of Worcester sauce shown in the photos. Some minor knocks, a few small missing pieces of silver and some rim repairs/resoldering but looks lovely!
ORNATE STERLING SILVER SAUCE BOTTLE HOLDER COASTER 1898 A very fine looking antique sterling silver bottle frame coaster fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1898, maker Levi & Salaman (one of the best makers). It takes a bottle of approx 4.8cm diameter and fits perfectly the modern standard 150ml bottle size of Worcester sauce shown in the photos. Some minor knocks, a possible vertical resolder but if so it was well done and it looks lovely!
ORNATE ANTIQUE STERLING SILVER SCENT BOTTLE FRAME 1901 An antique sterling silver scent bottle frame fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1901, maker Henry Matthews. Will take a bottle of approx 3.8cm diameter. Slightly out of perfect shape but once on a bottle it will be fine. No splits. Some small surface knocks.

BATEMAN STERLING SILVER BRIGHT CUT SUGAR TONGS 1804 A fine pair of tongs by Peter, Anne & William Bateman, hallmarked for London 1804. Engraved to bow ‘ES to AC’. Lovely wider than usual bow. No damage, makers marks part rubbed

FEATHER EDGE STERLING SILVER MUSTARD SPOON c. 1760 A sterling silver mustard spoon in the Hanoverian Feather Edge pattern, bearing partial hallmarks and definitely dating c.18th, probably c. 1760. Monogrammed with a ‘DO’ In very good overall shape for age, no dents, hallmarks are indistinct but you can make out the lion passant.
FEATHER EDGE STERLING SILVER SALT SPOON c. 1760 A sterling silver mustard spoon in the Hanoverian Feather Edge pattern, bearing partial hallmarks and definitely dating c.18th, probably c. 1760. Monogrammed with a ‘J&E over W’. Slight wear and surface marks from use. Scratch to interior of bowl.
c.18th SOLID SILVER HANOVERIAN SCALLOP SALT SPOON A c.18th silver larger sized salt spoon with lovely scallop shaped bowl. Bears makers mark only of W.I or W.T. Will presumably date c. 1750. Monogrammed ‘JSF’ (?), which is probably a later addition. No dents. There are cosmetic tiny surface cracks at each side of the interior of the top of the bowl area, nothing corresponding to the rear and of no depth. Still perfectly sturdy and useable.
