RARE NEWCASTLE STERLING SILVER MEDICINE SPOON KER REID Item #28839 I have never seen another one of these assayed for Newcastle, they must be exceptionally rare. Made by Christian Ker Reid c. 1797. Monogrammed ‘SAW’. Slight issue per below but still a fantastic piece. There is a small split at the bowl/handle join front and back but the bowl has virtually no more flexing than a usual solid spoon, so its not a massive problem. Also a small split to rear edge of the bowl on one side. Otherwise fine, no teeth marks etc. GBP99.99 click here to view item in our store
BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE SILVER ON COPPER SERVING TRAY Item #28840 A very fine looking silver on copper tray of unusual design with very ornate rim and handle decoration and very finely chased surface. Difficult to date due to lack of markings but the quality and ‘flowing’ design point to art nouveau period so probably 1890-1910. Gleaming silver with partial copper bleed. There is 1 dent to underside but it doesn’t come thru to the front side. GBP74.99 click here to view item in our store

ORNATE ANTIQUE STERLING SILVER SPOON & FORK 1855 Item #28844 An unusual pair – this is a spoon & fork with longer than usual handles, the spoon having bright cut scroll decoration to rear of bowl and the fork with chased shaped area with pierced work sections leading up to the 4 prongs. The spoon is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1855, makers mark is slightly obscure but appears to be that of Brown & Clark. The fork for some reason has no markings whatsoever so technically the fork is sold as ‘white metal’, though it obviously matches the hallmarked spoon. No dents or damage other than minor gap at handle join of the fork, but its not a huge issue, absolutely rigid etc. GBP44.99 click here to view item in our store
LOVELY ART NOUVEAU PERIOD BRASS KITCHEN TRIVET Item #28845 A very nice looking piece raised on 4 tall legs Very solid, some historical rewelding of the 2 legs at the front edge and a minor crack in the brass at each of these joins but its fairly cosmetic, it’s a sturdy old piece, stands perfectly GBP24.99 click here to view item in our store

MAGNIFICENT ELKINGTON SILVER PLATED LARGE SALVER 1843 Item #28848 A seriously good piece of very early Elkington, proving just how good their newly invented electroplating process could be. This is a large salver with superb chased decoration and a central armorial device of a cherub/putti facing. It really does look more like ‘solid’ silver, the chasing has quite incredible depth to it bearing in mind it is plated. Raised on 3 shell and scroll feet. Accurately dating to 1843 from the ‘3’ mark, well as accurate as one can be as there is little documentary evidence of these earliest wares. Note that the ‘3’ is in a circle within a lozenge, which is probably an as yet unrecorded variant of the ‘3’ year marking. Absolutely gleaming silver, no plate wear, no dents, some minor surface scratches. It has not been replated, it is all original Elkington plating nearly 170 years old.
