C.19TH OLD SHEFFIELD PLATE MEAT COVER & TRAY DIXON Item #28849 2 items in this lot: Firstly an Old Sheffield Plate meat cover by James Dixon & Sons made c. 1835 with armorial device of a shaded crescent. Secondly an earlier Old Sheffield tray dating c. 1790 on which the cover fits extremely well. This has no makers marks. Cover: exceptionally good, no real copper bleed other than a few minor spots, a few minor scratches and bumps, 1 tiny dent to lid from interior but no major dents, gleaming mirror like silver. Tray: A few shallow dents to tray surface and some more noticeable copper bleed. Ancient resolder repairs to feet. It is sturdy and useable. GBP174.99 click here to view item in our store

BLUSH IVORY STAFFORDSHIRE CERAMIC TEASET C. 1918 Item #28868 A nice looking set made by Samuel Johnson Ltd of Burslem c. 1918 at their Britannia Pottery. Comprised teapot, teapot stand, water pot with pewter lid, sugar bowl, milk jug. Teapot: Just some tiny nibbles to spout lip. Stand: Fine. Water pot: Slight chip to base footrim but it is underglaze and thus how it was made. Milk jug: Very small chip to footrim. Sugar bowl: Fine. All pieces have overall fine eggshell glaze crazing. Very thick gauge silver as evidenced by the solidity of the lid. The base is heavily lead weighted to prevent toppling. Interior is lined in red velvet and lid interior is gilt washed.
