ANTIQUE JAPANESE BRASS MOUNTED 3 COMPARTMENT WOOD BOX Item #29314 A lovely older oriental box that we believe is Japanese in origin, mounted with decorative brass panels and lacquered in a reddish-brown . The lid lifts to reveal a document or brush compartment and there are 2 similar sized pull out drawers behind the front doors. The lid clasp is formed as a turtles body. Minor cosmetic wear and tear and an area of lost paint to the lid. Missing its key for the front doors, so they don’t shut tightly but they stay ‘reasonably’ shut. One door hinge missing some pins. Otherwise structurally solid, a nice decorative and fairly useful piece. GBP59.99 click here to view item in our store
ANTIQUE JAPANESE BRASS MOUNTED ARTISTS WRITERS BOX Item #29315 A lovely older lacquered Japanese hand-carried box, probably late Meiji period. Has many drawers and compartments for brushes, pens etc – the 2 side sections are removable containers, both are decorated with a crane. The lower drawer of the stack of drawers has a lock but there is no key present. We have not cleaned this up. Minor cosmetic wear and tear (scuffs, marks, cosmetic cracks etc). Some cracks in the removable copper square well to top. A couple of missing brass pins and one small section of brass is missing above/to side of one drawer. Gleaming silver with minor wear showing to a few pieces. Prongs still very sharp etc. No damage to handles. Case good with minor cosmetic wear. There are 12 forks and 10 knives (i.e. 2 missing knives). Gleaming silver with some minor wear. ANTIQUE CASED MOTHER OF PEARL SEWING MANICURE SET Item #29363 A nice Victorian red Moroccan leather case containing mother of pearl handled manicure and sewing implements, steel scissors, propelling pencil etc. Some of the pieces are later replacements but most are original to the case from the looks of it. Made by Wm Maple & Sons of Sheffield c. 1885. Salts are all gleaming silver with some slight wear, no dents. One of the liners has some visible chips to rim. Spoons are replacements and vary slightly in size but do the job. The spoon restrainers are all perished. Some marks to the case interior. The clasp is broken and the exterior has some scuffs. HUGE EARLY C.20TH ASPREY SILVER PLATED HOTPLATE Item #29421 This is a ‘monster’ of a hotplate made by Asprey & Co, usually you only see a single burner hotplate – this one has spaces for 4 burners (3 are present). Silver plated frame with wicker bound handle at one end, to the other it is unfortunately missing. The hotplate area measures 82cm by 23cm (just over 32 inch long by 9 inch wide). Handle to handle it is 95cm long or just over 37 inches. It is 13.5cm (5 and 1/4 inch) tall and 23.3cm (9 and 1/2 inch) wide. Frame is gleaming silver with some slight tarnish, no dents or damage. Removable plate has a dig to one edge and a slight warp in the middle, still useable though. Burners exhibit some wear and one is missing its damper camp. Only one of the burners has Asprey markings, all fit well though. GBP199.99 click here to view item in our store
