SUITE 24 MOTHER OF PEARL SILVER PLATED CUTLERY 1898 Item #29432 A lovely looking set of 12 fruit knives and 12 forks with mother of pearl handles and bright cut silver plated uppers, with sterling silver ferrules fully hallmarked for Sheffield 1898. Made by Allen & Darwin. Generally very good with a couple of issues – one knife has a chipped end of handle and a dig/scratch to rear of blade, another has a bruise/surface crack at ferrule area of handle. ANTIQUE ELKINGTON CANTEEN SILVER PLATED CROWN ARMORIAL Item #29435 A large oak chest of silver plated Old English pattern flatware by Elkington & Co bearing their date marks for a range between 1893 and 1905. Crown armorial devices to handles. Composed over 2 layers there are: 12 table forks, 12 dessert forks, 12 fish knives, 13 small teaspoons, 5 egg spoons, 1 salt spoon, 12 dessert spoons, 12 tablespoons, soup ladle, sauce ladle, fish servers (a very impressive pair!), fork cleaner and an additional loose 25 piece suite of Elkington rattail comprising 6 table forks, 6 side forks, 6 dessert spoons, 5 teaspoons, 2 tablespoons. These additional pieces do not have the armorial to handles and are dated to 1921. Total of 109 pieces including the spares. Variable use wear, the heaviest use is to the dessert forks that show some general plate wear to rear of prongs. These are also the oldest dated pieces. Some of the fish knives have cosmetic cracks to handles. The rattail suite has some wear to rattails from resting on tables. Chest itself is missing its brass cartouche to lid and has a section of ;lift’ to the ;lid and some marks and scuffs. The interior lining is a bit moth eaten. ANTIQUE GENTS LEATHER TRAVELLING CASE SILVER LIDS 1892 Item #29488 A lovely late Victorian leather traveling case with red Moroccan leather interior and original fitted bottles, brushes etc. The silver lids are fully hallmarked for London 1892. Brushes are ebonised. Includes razor, scissors, nail file, buttonhook, shaving bottle with brush, clothes brush, hairbrush, comb, razor strop, vanity jar, toothbrush jar, mirror. Some scuffs to exterior but leather nice and supple, interior is very good. The locking mechanism to top has some issues and requires a pointed object to push the clasp to one side ion order to open, (the attached key actually works fine as the ‘pusher’) but it does still lock and still opens. The longer ‘toothbrush’ bottle is probably a replacement as its rim appears to have been ground down to accept its lid. Otherwise it’s a lovely older piece. VICTORIAN 4 PIECE SILVER PLATED FLUTED TEASET DIXON Item #29490 A large 4 piece tea & coffee set by James Dixon & Sons of Sheffield, the bodies of semifluted form with ornate bright cut decoration to uppers. Teapot is 2 pints capacity, coffee pot is 2.5 pints. Some slight issues but still a good looking set. Note although the pattern is pretty much identical the sugar and milk jug are by a different maker, possibly ‘sub contracted’ by Dixon to them as it is so similar and we believe they have always been together as a set. Teapot: minor plate wear, some tea tarnish to interior. Very slight handle movement at pins. Coffee pot: Missing its wooden finial, slight plate wear, some tarnish to interior. TG GREEN CORNISHWARE RARE AU GRATIN DISH GREEN SHIELD Item #29583 A T.G. Green Cornish Kitchen Ware au gratin dish with ‘all blue’ upper including handles. These are very hard to source. Designed by Berit Ternell c. 1959. One small chip to one of the tab handles at edge. Other handle has some white bleeding into the blue at one edge but how it was made. No crazing.
