ANTIQUE BRASS CHANGE DISH BERNINGHAUS 175 JAHRE Item #30723 A nicely made old brass change or trinket dish with 2 recesses in a ying and yang style. It is punch stamped with the words ’175 Jahre Berninghaus’ so presumably made for the 175th anniversary of Berninghaus. OLD SHEFFIELD SILVER PLATE CHAMBERSTICK ARMORIAL C.1825 Item #30728 A Regency period Old Sheffield Plate chamberstick by Blagden, Hodgson & Co made c. 1825. Has an armorial device of a dolphin or serpentine to the handle. Original snuffer. Gleaming silver with partial copper bleed. The candle holder rim has become detached from the stem but not a huge issue as the drip tray covers it all nicely etc. The snuffer has dents and missing a section of its rim decoration and a hole to its top. Could be used for anything really, pickle/chutney/relish, jam etc. No damage to glass other than extremely tiny fleabiting to the interior rim from use. The plating is gleaming silver with some minor tarnish and one of the vertical pierced work bars has a break in its middle but its hardly a noticeable issue. FINE SILVER PLATED 4 PIECE TEASET NORTHERN GOLDSMITHS Item #30746 A very good quality vintage silver plated 4 piece set by the Northern Goldsmiths Co of Newcastle in their Ducal Plate range, with nicely faceted shape bodies. The teapot is 2 pints capacity. All pieces are gleaming silver, no dents or damage, no plate wear. Pot interiors quite clean. OLD SHEFFIELD SILVER PLATE TEAPOT C. 1830 Item #30747 A scarce Old Sheffield Plate teapot made c. 1830. This one has a lovely chunky oak handle with a shell form lid finial. Approx 2.5 pints capacity. Slight issues but still a nice and useable pot. Gleaming silver with partial copper bleed. Some loss of rim decoration and some dents to lid. Historic resoldering of spout and handle join areas. Interior lid area is loose at one end from its supporting thick wire frame. VINTAGE STAINLESS STEEL & GLASS LAZY SUSAN / CAKE STAND Item #30758 A good vintage rotating ‘lazy Susan’ with 3 of its original 4 glass segment bowls and a central circular bowl with lid. You can remove all of the glass if desired and use it as a cake stand for a large cake of c. 11 inches max but it makes a nice piece anyway. The missing glass section is not all bad as you can use the remaining space for serving cutlery etc. All gleaming, one small spot of surface rust to the plateau (very minor) and a tiny knock to the underside footrim of the base. The set looks better under normal lighting – these photos taken in a natural daylight tent so it tends to show the plate wear up more than you would usually notice. OLD SHEFFIELD SILVER PLATE 20 INCH CANDELABRA C. 1820 Item #30765 A very impressive looking Old Sheffield Plate candelabra made c, 1820. The base stick is 12.5 inches tall. Overall height just under 20 inches (50cm) and with a width of 17 inches (43cm). Has a minor issue but easy enough to fix. One of the side lights has become detached from its arm but it wouldn’t take much of a resolder to fix it. Both gleaming silver, both handles have a minor cosmetic surface line crack (absolutely smooth and not an issue) – both pieces are as solid as the day they were made and perfectly useable. ORNATE STERLING SILVER MOTHER OF PEARL CAKE KNIFE 1894 Item #30795 A lovely small sized cake knife with ornate sterling silver blade fully hallmarked for Sheffield 1894, maker Philip Ashberry & Sons. Good mother of pearl handle. Rear of blade is engraved with monogram ‘JWB’. Also has hallmarked silver ferrule. Silver content is half of the overall weight as it balances in the middle. CASED STERLING SILVER NAPKIN RINGS INITIAL ‘S’ 1935 Item #30796 A pair of sterling silver napkin rings by Reid & Sons of Newcastle in original Reid’s case. Both have an unusual ‘squared circle’ type design and engraved with a single initial ‘S’. Fully hallmarked for London 1935, the silver weighs 52g. VINTAGE MIRRORED GLASS CAKE STAND TABLE CENTERPIECE Item #30797 A vintage mirrored glass cake stand with ‘dimple’ effect decoration towards outside and a beveled edge. It has a painted back, raised on 3 feet and with hanging hook for storage. English made. Will take a large cake of c. 12 inch if you go outside of the ‘dimple’ border, 10 inch if you keep it within the border. LARGE C.19TH OLD SHEFFIELD PLATE CAKE STAND CENTREPIECE Item #30798 A lovely piece, this is large c.19th silver plated mirrored centerpiece plateau stand (later used for wedding cakes) raised on 3 ornate claw feet with egg & dart rim decoration and superb repeated scrolls and shell work to the sides. Made by the famous firm of T&J Creswick and will date c. 1820. Will accommodate a cake of up to 14 inches. The metalwork has a layer of varnish which has peeled in places but it has preserved the underlying silver exceptionally well, there is no hint of copper whatsoever. With some work you can get it back to all over gleaming but it doesn’t look at all bad as it is. Has a few missing screw to underside feet areas and minor knocks to the underside feet decoration. One foot requires a couple of new screws in place. The mirror itself some surface scratches but is good for its age. GBP249.99 click here to view item in our store
