VINTAGE SILVER PLATED LION MASK ICE BUCKET PHV THERMOS Item #31904 A lovely vintage silver plated ice bucket by PHV with lion mask and ring handles and Thermos silvered glass interior with original plastic removable ice basket. Absolutely gleaming silver, no dents or damage, no plate wear. The rubber seal to interior that keeps the glass in place is very slightly perished with age but still does its job fine. It does mean that glass is able to be removed and you can see some slight tarnish marks etc to inside but you should have no reason to take the glass out anyway! Its fine if used as intended. Each has an armorial device of a lion rampant brandishing a cutlass. Tinned undersides. With candle snuffers (one is damaged). Both bases are gleaming silver with partial copper bleed, no dents. BEAUTIFUL CARVED MOTHER OF PEARL SILVER PLATED CUTLERY ANTIQUE Item #31930 Some of the most beautiful pieces of worked mother of pearl cutlery/flatware that we have ever come across, the sheer work involved in making these handles would have been tremendous! Unfortunately missing one of the original forks, there are 6 dessert knives and 5 dessert forks. Made by Wm Hutton & Sons they date c. 1840. Plating is variable with some patchiness but generally gleaming silver. Handles are overall very good with a few minor issues: Knives: one handle has a reglued chip at ferrule area, one has a small chip at end of handle. ORNATE CASED SOLID STERLING SILVER CHRISTENING CUTLERY SET 1851 Item #31938 A beautiful cased child’s christening cutlery se, the spoon by Samuel Hayne & Dudley Cater and the knife by Atkin Brothers of Sheffield (Henry Atkin), the spoon fully hallmarked for London 1851, knife for Sheffield 1851. Fork does not have hallmarks but is obviously silver. Very small monogram of MKB to each piece. Combined weight of the 3 pieces is 75g, the fork and knife handles are hollow so there will be a little amount of steel rod in the weight to their interiors. Slight kink to one of the fork prongs and minor gap at handle join but still perfectly rigid. Minor knock to spoon bowl rim. Otherwise fine and not heavily used. ANTIQUE 12 SETTINGS CANTEEN RATTAIL SILVER PLATED JAMES DIXON Item #31981 A lovely late c.19th canteen suite of silver plated flatware in the Rattail pattern by James Dixon & Sons of Sheffield, with associated steel cutlery. 12 main place settings (79 pieces in total). Comprises 12 each of table forks, table knives, dessert forks, dessert knives, dessert spoon, tablespoons, 2x knife rests, beef and game carving forks, sharpening steel and slots for carving knives. The silverware is all original to the set other than 1 table fork which is a very similar looking replacement in the Old English pattern. The knives are a slight mix – there are 8 of the original very large Dixon table knives and 4 later Harrods replacements in a different handle style – all of these are riveted handle types. The dessert knives are a mix of later replacements of the same general size and style. Carving pieces also replacements. Generally good, majority of pieces are absolutely gleaming and lightly used, a few have heavier scouring type marks from some over zealous cleaning but sill gleaming and no plate wear. 2 of the Dixon table knives have cosmetic handle cracks, 1 absolutely smooth to touch and 1 you can feel it when you run your fingers over it. The Dixon knives predate the invention of stainless steel and do have some marks and light surface ‘rust’ patches – this can be professionally polished out. Slight rust to one of the carving forks. DECO CANTEEN OLD ENGLISH SILVER PLATED 61 piece Item #31982 A fine vintage deco period canteen of silver plated flatware in the Old English pattern by George Wolstenholme & Sons of Sheffield with accompanying ivorine handled stainless steel flatware etc. 6 main place settings. Comprises 6 each of table forks, table knives, dessert forks, dessert knives, fish forks, fish knives, soup spoons, dessert spoons, teaspoons and 4 tablespoons + carving fork and sharpening steel and slot for carving knife. Total of 61 pieces. All pieces are original to the canteen. All gleaming silver and quite lightly used. The case has a ring mark and slight water related discoloration to lid at rear right corner. ANTIQUE SILVER PLATED LARGE CAKE STAND MIRRORED CENTERPIECE Item #31983 A large antique silver plated mirrored centrepiece, most commonly used now as wedding cake stands. It is a rare composite of Old Sheffield plate to the feet and EPBM to the main body so will likely date c. 1850. It has a good large beveled edge glass mirrored area of c. 33cm (13 inches) square and ornate chased decoration incorporating a vacant shield to each side. Raised on ornate feet and in a custom built early c.20th wood and chipboard carrying case with handle. The underside wood appears to be a later replacement. Note this was very difficult to get a good set of photos of due to a combination of its size and curved body shape. Gleaming polished Britannia metal with some slight darker tarnish areas mainly at the corners. Some minor knocks to the body. No damage to glass and it has a fine condition mirrored surface.
